Today I've teamed up with a fun group of bloggers to share some Christmas mantel inspiration, and mine is of the very non-traditional variety! While most of our house is decked out in teal, red, black, and white for the holidays, in our basement family room, I'm always dreaming of an orange and white Christmas! When I picked the orange and gray color scheme for the basement, it was pre-kids, and we never decorated for Christmas down there. But once the kids came along, the basement family ... View the Post

Our Christmas Book Tradition
The countdown to Christmas is on, and we are filling our days with all of our favorite Christmas activities and traditions. We've been baking cookies, looking at Christmas lights, listening to carolers sing downtown, and reading our favorite Christmas books! My boys love books, and I love that! Which is why we books play an important role in one of our favorite family traditions! Today I'm excited to join with a fun group of bloggers to talk about creating Christmas traditions, and we've each ... View the Post
How to Organize Gift Wrap In a Closet
Confession time! I am a gift wrap hoarder! I've never met a pretty roll of wrapping paper that I didn't like {especially if it's on sale}, and I keep every gift bag that comes into our house for future reuse. Those adorable gift tags in the Target dollar section get me every time, I can't pass up the giant bags of bows that are always on sale for 75% off after the holidays, and you'll even find me refolding tissue paper if it's not too wrinkled to use again. But what is a gift wrap loving ... View the Post
Pretty Pantry Labels Three Ways + FREE PRINTABLE LABELS
Last week I shared my five steps for creating an organized and pretty pantry, and I gave you a tour of our pantry space. Over a year after first completing our pantry makeover, the space is functioning just as well today as it did on day one - and I believe we have the labels to thank for that! Without labels, our pantry would just be a sea of matching white bins. I would have a pretty good idea of what goes where, since I organized it to start with, but imagine my poor kids and husband! They ... View the Post
Organizing Kids Toys with Labels that Are Easy to Update
Raise your hand if you love to label ALL. THE. THINGS? Me too! Labeling is one of the most important steps in the process of creating an organized space, because it makes it easy for everyone in the family to find what they need, and makes it much easier to put everything away where it belongs. But not all labels are created equal. A label is only good if it's accurate, so it's important to make labels easy to update for those spots in the house where the contents are likely to change ... {charitable} Discovering a New Way to See a Christmas Tree
I'll warn you up front this story is a little long, but it's a heartwarming story perfect for Christmas and I hope you'll take a few minutes to read it... at the end I'll reward you with photos of a very pretty Christmas tree that I designed for some very special children! The old adage is true - it's always better to give than to receive! Which is why I was thrilled when I was presented the opportunity to participate in a blogging campaign that would allow me to give a free Christmas tree to ... View the Post
Modern & Merry Christmas Home Tour
We started decorating for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving, and somewhere along the way we decided to rearrange the living room. The decorating is almost done, but the house is definitely in hot mess mode with fall decor piled on the stairs to be put away and boxes and bins waiting to be returned to the garage. I'll be taking more photos of our holiday decorations once I get everything cleaned up, but I get so excited about Christmas decor that I couldn't help but share some sneak peeks ... View the Post
{seasonal style} Beautifully Kid-Friendly Christmas Decor
Have you started decorating for Christmas yet? We put up our Christmas tree last night, with the help of our two young boys, and as we did so, I was reminded of the blog post I wrote a couple of years ago about how to keep Christmas decorations baby and kid-safe without sacrificing style. I know a lot of moms and dads feel hesitant to decorate for Christmas when they have very young kids in the house, both out of concern for the safety of those little ones, and for fear of sentimental items ... {five minute friday} Save Money this Holiday Season by Organizing Your Coupons
Who has already started their Christmas shopping? I've been picking up a few things here and there, but not much yet. I'm hoping, however, to get most of it done in November this year to avoid the last minute rush and so that I'll have more time to enjoy the holiday festivities with my family. And of course, I'm hoping to save some money by taking advantage of sales and using as many coupons as I can! I love this time of year when every retailer is mailing out coupons and my email inbox is ... View the Post
Stamped Place Cards for Your Fall Table
Today's Five Minute Friday is coming at you late - kids and life before blogging, you know! But I did want to share the quick and easy way that I made these pretty place cards for my fall table. Did you know that you can hand color stamps rather than just using an ink pad? I've had these Recollections brand brush markers for years, but I'd never tried them before. The color palette for my fall kitchen decor was inspired by peacock feathers, so when I found this peacock stamp at ... View the Post
Stylish & Chic Thanksgiving Place Cards

In keeping with the theme of Five Minute Friday, each of these place card ideas should only take you about five minutes! Peacock feathers are one of my favorite ways to add some unexpected color to a fall table, so last year I created these hand stamped peacock feather place cards. I love the modern simplicity of these quick ... View the Post
{organizing with style} Project Paint Storage and a Free Printable
To say we have a lot of latex paint might be an understatement! When we bought our home, the builder left us a touch up kit with 2 quarts of each color of paint used throughout the house (including the original wall colors, the trim, ceilings, and closet interior paints). Additionally, we have since repainted many of the rooms in the house, resulting in a lot more leftover paint (and in the case of the ombre stripes in the nursery we used five different colors). Until a few weeks ... View the Post
