As Scott and I celebrated our 6th anniversary this past week, I shared three wedding inspired decorating projects here on the blog. Then on Saturday, we had our first night out since Cooper was born! We braved a torrential downpour in order to enjoy a fantastic anniversary dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, Izakaya Den. Seriously people, if you live in Denver and haven't eaten here - you are totally missing out! And if you don't live ... View the Post

{gifts with style} Aisle Runner Turned Pillow
As you know by now, I'm celebrating our upcoming sixth wedding anniversary by blogging about ways to incorporate wedding memories into your home decor. Earlier in the week I shared a large, framed canvas photo of our wedding ceremony that I kicked it up a notch with a border overlaid with our vows, and yesterday I showed you our double-sided framed wedding invitation. Today I'm wrapping up the week with the just-completed project of turning our ... View the Post
{gifts with style} Double-Sided Framed Wedding Invitation
If you checked out yesterday's blog post, then you know that it's wedding anniversary week here at my house, and in honor of our sixth anniversary I'm sharing some of the ways that I've turned our wedding memories into décor that we can enjoy in our home on a daily basis. Today's post is a pretty simple idea, but one that I'm proud of nonetheless because it took me six years to finally accomplishing it. I framed our wedding invitation. I know, I know... ... Our Annivesary: The Story of His Proposal
Hi friends! Today Scott and I are celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary, so in honor of that, I thought I'd take a little departure from the normal decor, DIY, and organizing talk to share the story of how he proposed. If grand gestures and lovey-dovey stories make you want to gag, feel free to avert your eyes now and come back tomorrow for another great Five Minute Friday DIY project. But if Hallmark Channel-worthy love stories are your jam, then read on! Scott and ... View the Post
{organizing with style} Tips for Proper Paint Storage, Disposal, and Recycling
We recently completed Project Paint Storage at our house, which included transferring all of our latex paint into plastic, screw-top canisters with labels, creating a customized paint deck, completing paint reference charts, compiling a kit to make organizing new paint quick and easy in the future, and finally organizing and storing all of our other painting supplies in our utility room. During the course of this project, we did a lot of research regarding ... View the Post
How to Properly Store, Dispose Of, and Recycle Paint and Paint Cans
As a serial DIYer, I'm always repainting the walls in our house, and painting just about everything else in sight with spray paint. That leaves us with a lot of leftover paint and, in time, a lot of empty paint cans. We have a very small utility room and a detached, unheated garage, so I had a lot of questions about how and where I could safely store my leftover paint, and how to properly dispose of paint and paint cans. I did a lot of research regarding both paint storage and disposal options, ... View the Post
{organizing with style} Managing Kitchen Paper Piles with a Simple Filing System
One of the blogs that inspired me to start my own was iHeartOrganizing. This year, iHeart’s Jen is issuing a monthly organizing challenge, and February is focused on the kitchen. While I certainly need to give my pantry a major overhaul, I just knew I wouldn’t be able to complete that project this month - and fortunately in the meantime it’s behind a closed door. So I instead decide to participate in Jen’s challenge by tackling a smaller problem, but one that’s out in the open - our ... View the Post
The 13 Best Back to School Organizing Ideas
My boys started back to school this week, so we spent the weekend in back to school prep mode! We shopped for school supplies and new clothes, and of course, spent some time getting the house organized and ready for the fall routine. How to Organize a Small Reach-In Pantry
Do you drool over those gorgeous walk-in pantry organization photos in magazines and on Pinterest? Me too! The only problem is that I don't have a walk-in pantry to make gorgeous! But after living in a condo for years with no pantry at all, even a smallish reach-in pantry seemed like such a luxury when we moved in to our current home. It took me years to figure out how to organize the pantry to make the most of our space, but after some failed attempts, I've finally figured out how to create a ... View the Post
The BEST Products to Help You Get Organized & Stay Organized
A few months ago I shared my 10 Steps to Get Organized & Stay Organized, and it prompted a lot of questions from readers. You all wanted to know where I like to shop for organizing products and which are my favorite products. So today I've put together a list of my go-to organizing products! This list certainly doesn't cover every bin, basket or container I've used in our house, but these are my favorite products - the ones I always think of first when I get ready to organize a new ... {organizing with style} Washi Tape Shelves
Last week I showed your our organized "baby elevator closet" (if you want to know why we call it that, you'll have to check out that post), and you may have noticed the colorful stripes on the front of each of the shelves. Washi tape! It's hard to believe that just a few months ago I had never used washi tape for anything, and now it makes its way in to nearly every project I do. I love my label maker, and it's always been my go to when I've needed to label ... View the Post
Organizing Cords & Cables
I've been working on several big organizing projects recently, one of which is organizing all a hall closet that houses, among other things, all of our small electronics - everything from cameras and video cameras, to iPods, iPads and portable speaker. And every one of these items comes with at least one, if not two or more, cords and cables. The closet organizing project is still a work in progress, but I did just complete one key component - taming all of those cords and cables! I'm sure ... View the Post
