{worth a second look} Top 5 Most Popular Organizing Posts of 2016

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
I used to think I was alone in my love of organizing all the things. That was before I started blogging. Now I know for you sure that you all love to organize just as much as I do, and there were a few organizing projects this year that really stood out as your favorites, so I thought they would be worth a second look…

UPDATED RESTAURANT KIT FOR DINING OUT WITH KIDS

Eating out with young children can be a challenge, but Scott and I like to live on the wild side by taking out kids out to restaurants on a fairly regular basis. To make these evenings out a bit more enjoyable for us and the kids, I created a “Restaurant Kit.” When I first blogged about it, the contents were geared toward our then infant and toddler. The post quickly became my all time most popular, and over time lots of readers started asking for an update on the how we’d adapted the kit as our kids got older.
You spoke, and I listened! This past year I shared an update with details on all of the contents of our restaurant kit for preschool and young elementary aged kids, as well as some tips for keeping the kit fresh and interesting for them. I’m thrilled to see that this post was the most popular of the year on the blog because {hopefully} that means that lots of other parents are enjoying less stressful dinners out!

ORGANIZED CAR KIT

I’d had good intentions to get our car organized, well, pretty much forever, but it just kept getting passed up on the to do list! But this summer we split out time between home and the mountain town of Breckenridge while my husband was performing at a theater there, and being constantly on the road back and forth finally motivated me to get the car organized once and for all. I created an car kit to keep all of our on the go needs neatly organized, including items for every member of the family. The organized car kit is not only great for road trips, it’s also perfect for busy days around town!

AN ORGANIZED TRAVEL BINDER + ITINERARY TEMPLATE

I love to organize almost as much as I love to travel, so it probably comes as no surprise that I spend a lot of time planning and organizing our trips before we ever step out of the front door. With each trip I perfect my travel binder system just a bit more, and this summer I shared my best organized travel tips along with a free, editable itinerary template to help you with you trip planning and to ensure you have all the info you might need throughout the trip. This is a post that is definitely worth a second look before you start planning your spring break travels!

ORGANIZED COAT CLOSET MAKEOVER

Our coat closet is one of those projects that just makes me giddy! Just a year ago it was a serious disaster, but now I find myself opening the doors just to admire how pretty it is. But more importantly, it’s so functional and it has made life easier for the whole family. With winter in full swing, now is the perfect time to get your coat closet organized, and I have tons of tips to help you make the most of your space, no matter how big or small it may be.

KITCHEN ORGANIZATION FOR BACK TO SCHOOL
The kitchen is certainly the heart of the home, and, in our home, it is also school command central! In addition to packing lunches, we have a lot of “school stuff” to keep track of week in and week out, and almost all of it happens in the kitchen! In the past, I’ve shared my best tips for organizing the pantry, under the kitchen sink, and many other spaces in the kitchen. And this year I focused on getting our kitchen organized in ways that make the days run smoother for our whole family. Even if you don’t have kids, you’ll find lots of helpful suggestions in this post!
BONUS: ORGANIZED GARAGE MAKEOVER

Our garage makeover receives honorable mention status on this list, despite already being listed as one of the top decor and DIY posts of the year, because much of the makeover was focused on creating functional storage and organization solutions. In the garage reveal post, you got a glimpse at some of our organizing solutions, but in the coming months I’ll be sharing a more detailed garage organizing post, so be sure to keep an eye out for that!

The new year is a perfect time to resolve to get more organized, and to start you on the right track, I want to give you a free copy of my e-book, “HOW TO GET ORGANIZED & STAY ORGANIZED, ONCE AND FOR ALL!” It walks you through a ten step process that works for every room of the house with detailed examples and photos.
