I used to think I couldn’t change up my decor for the fall, because my teal and gray living room isn’t exactly a natural fit for traditional autumn colors. But over the years, I’ve realized that you don’t have to have a neutral home in order to bring in different colors to change the mood of the room for the changing seasons – you just have to think beyond the traditional color palettes.
With that in mind, last year I came up with 10 non-traditional fall color palettes – one for just about any home and style! That post turned out to be pretty popular, so I thought this year it would be fun to take it a step further and create a mood board for each color palette. I’m sharing the first five today, and the final five will be on the blog next Monday.
I have kept these mood boards pretty simple – pillows and blankets, baskets and trays, and small accessories. These are the types of items that make it quick and easy to change up your seasonal decor without spending a lot of time or money. You’ll notice in the mood boards that while the colors may not be those traditionally associated with fall, you can achieve a cozy feeling of fall in just about any color palette by selecting textures and patterns appropriate for the season.
