{decorating with style} Warm Up Your Space with Unexpected Fall Colors

  • Twitter
This post is sponsored by Cost Plus World Market, which is one of my favorite places to shop! Thank you for supporting the brands that make this blog possible! As always, all ideas and opinions are my own. This post also contains affiliate links.
Fall may not be in the air just yet, but step inside any store and there is no doubt that it’s just around the corner. School supplies and fall decor filling the shelves signal that cooler weather isn’t far away. This has me itching to buy every notebook in sight, and to warm up our living room with some cozy textures.
Simply by swapping out a few pillows, blankets, and accessories, you can change up your seasonal decor without spending a lot of money. Last year, I showed you how you could quickly change up your style for fall by incorporating any of ten different non-traditional fall color palettes to coordinate with what you already own. When there’s a chill in the air, creating a cozy feeling in your home is all about selecting textures and patterns appropriate for the season, no matter the colors.
I had so much fun putting together those fall color palettes and mood boards last year, and I’ve been itching to create more… but with new color combos, of course.

For weeks now, I’ve been eagerly flipping through fall catalogs, scoping out new trends, and making a mental wish list. But the newest collection from Cost Plus World Market stopped me in my tracks because it’s packed with one color that I’ve never associated with fall – PINK! I was intrigued, and immediately started putting together a new color palette in my head.
This is not your flowery, spring pink – this is a pink with cooler undertones that, paired with cozy textures like shag, fur, and patchwork, can warm up your space when the weather turns cold. Combine it with black, white, and grey, and you’ve got a pink perfectly suited for autumn!

You guys already know how much I love blue, so I’m up for incorporating its many shades into any room, any time! Blue may not be the first color you associate with fall, but just picture a long walk on a cool, crisp day under a clear blue sky. Doesn’t that vision just make you feel happy?

I spotted some blue pillows in Cost Plus World Market’s new fall collection, and paired them with a variety of textured neturals and metals to create a fall color palette that I’d love to have in my own home…and I think you’ll agree!

Of course, these colors don’t have to be limited to seasonal decor! The mood boards above are focused on the idea of adding a few accessories to your house for the fall season, but if you’ve fallen hard for either of these color schemes, why not go all in and design a whole room around your favorite hues?
If you are crushing on pink, then you have to see Cost Plus World Market’s mid-centry inspired rose pink chair! Here’s how I would design an entire room around it, incorporating the same black, white, pink, and gray accessories that I showed you above.

I tend to choose bold colors and patterns for my home, but I am head over heels for all the textured neutrals at Cost Plus World Market this fall! From faux Flokati fur to cowhide, I am digging ivory in ways I never thought possible. If neutrals are your jam, take a look at this gorgeous mood board I put together using the same blue pillows and accessories from above.

Even if you aren’t the lucky grand prize winner, you can still get some celebrity designer insights from Genevieve Gorder. I had the pleasure of meeting Genevieve when I was in NYC last fall, and I could listen to her talk design all. day. long. In the video below she spills some of her best tips for designing a small space.

If you enjoyed these unexpected fall color palettes, be sure to also check out these five, and these these five. No matter what style you have in your home, you can give your space a new look for the fall season by adding a few pops of color and some cozy texture. I’ve got plenty of inspiration to get you going!
